Special Support
Inclusion Centre Learning Support and Positive Progress Unit
All Pupils irrespective of their abilities may at times need special support.
Equality of opportunity exists at Priory through the way the curriculum is organised and through the support provided by the Inclusion centre, Learning support and the Positive Progress Unit.
We aim to provide a learning environment where pupils are motivated to archieve, and their development supported.
We work closely with staff, learning mentors, families and other agencies to help young people get back on track with their learning, so that we engage them as learners, and help build their self-esteem.
We help turn around pupils behaviour, attendance and archievement by using various strateies and support systems.
The school's Inclusion staff are:
- Christine Settle (Inclusion Centre Manager)
- Chris Newby (Positive Progress Unit Manager)
- Kerry Dodson (Learning Support Co-ordinator)
- Christine Dodson, June Collins and Sonia Newton (Curriculum Support Assistants).
2006 OFSTED reported that "First class provision in various on-site pupil inclusion, seclusion and support units ensures that more vulnerable students are able to follow academic and personal support programmes within a safe environment. This has a positive impact on the progress they make and is bringing down the instances of exclusion from school."
