Curriculum
In each Year group, pupils are organised into mixed ability forms of between 22 and 27. Pupils spend 15 minutes each day with their Form Tutors. Personal, Social, Citizenship and Health Education (PSHCE) is taught in form groups.
Each pupil receives 25 hours’ education per week. Lessons are delivered in one hour sessions, five sessions per day. Example timetables are shown under each year group heading.
Year 7

Initial groups are based on information received from Year 6 teachers and Key Stage 2 results. Movement between teaching groups may occur during the course of the school year.
- PE is taught in single gender groups.
- All other subjects are taught in mixed ability form groups.

At Year 10, pupils select three option choices from the following range:
- Art and Design
- BTEC First Certificate in Business
- BTEC First Certificate in Sport
- Design and Technology: Electronic Products, Home Economics (Food and Nutrition), Resistant Materials

- Applied ICT
- Mathematics Study Plus
- Media
- Music
- Optional Science
Senior staff support pupils in making guided option choices. All pupils have a two-week Work Experience placement. Some pupils with Additional Educational Needs have access to a variety of other pathways – please contact our SENCO, Ms E Shimwell, for further information.

Most pupils study English and English Literature and some pupils studying Mathematics also study Statistics. Many pupils study the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) as part of ICT provision. A variety of accreditations exist including GCSE, BTEC, Adult Literacy and Numeracy. Pilot Diploma work is being explored for September 2010.
